10km for UNICEF

At the center of the fundraiser is the 10KM run. Runners can register in a separate starting block - the "10KM for UNICEF". There is no ranking in this block, the times are listed alphabetically. The entry fee is CHF 65.00 for registrations until 27 September 2019 and CHF 75.00 for registrations until 23 October 2019. Of this amount, CHF 30 will go directly to UNICEF Switzerland.

Run for UNICEF

UNICEF, the United Nations Children's Fund and the organizers of the SwissCityMarathon - Lucerne enter into a cooperation. From now on, various donation possibilities for UNICEF are available not only for runners, but also for spectators and third parties:

DuoMarathon

At the DuoMarathon, the runners complete the entire marathon course in the form of a relay. The marathon distance will be split up to two persons, both runners complete a halfmarathon. The handover of the team number takes place in the transition zone at halfmarathon distance - after rounding the turning point.

Catering

All along the course there are refreshment stands and food stalls offering a wide range.

Clothes, Changing rooms, Showers

Will be at the "Schulhaus Würzenbach" close to the start- and finish area by the Museum of Transport. The bags of the 10k participants can be left at the changing rooms in Horw. They will be transferred to the finish in Lucerne (Changing rooms "Schulhaus Würzenbach").

Bag transport for 10KM

One bag per 10k participant can be dropped at a special desk at the changing rooms in Horw. Please use the voucher attached to your start number to mark your bag independantly. The bags will be transported to the changing rooms near the finish area in Lucerne. The changing rooms are located either for women at the Sportcenter Würzenbach or for men at the School Würzenbach. To get back your bag at the Sportcenter (women) or School (men) you have to show your start number.

Delivery until 12.30 o'clock possible.

Horw

Almost legendary is the passage in Horw. In addition to the start of the 10Km Horw offers gastronomie and musical entertainment - in Horw it vibrates!

Medical informations

Physical condition
With registration the runner declares to be in a fit state of health and has trained to a sufficient standard for the race and is in good physical condition.

Medical advisory
With registration you confirm to have read the advisory. Severe exertion during or soon after any kind of fever is extremely dangerous. If you find yourself in this situation you must withdraw. Make sure to drink enough liquid before during and after the race. In case of not feeling well during the race (shortness of breath, dizziness, exhaustion, great pain etc) you should stop running. You can be disqualified from the race by medical orderlies or doctors in the event you are having physical problems.
If you are planning to become much more physically active than you are now, start by answering the seven questions in this form. If you answer one of those questions with "yes", you need to visit a sports physician for a check-up. If you are between the ages of 35 and 60, a check with your doctor is reasonable before you start. If you are over 60 years of age you should check with your doctor anyway.

Medical care
Along the race course there are several first aid stations at regular intervals where a doctor or someone else from the medical staff can help (see course map). There is a tent in the finish area where emergencies can be treated. Aid by our medical staff along the course an in the finish area is included in the entry fee. Moreover, there are ambulances ready along the race course to hospitalize someone in case of emergency. The transportation to the hospital and any treatments at the hospital are not included in the entry fee.

Liability
With registration I accept the official rules published by the SwissCityMarathon. With registration the runner declares to be in a fit state of health and has trained to a sufficient standard for the race and is in good physical condition.

Lucerne is music! More than 30 Bands are playing while you are running! Along the whole course, sound and rhythm will support all runners

Security Instructions

Instructions given by the race course personnel must be followed. Private escort of participants by all type of vehicles, especially by bicycles or inline skates, is not allowed. To carry a dog, a pram etc. with one is not permitted. A general ban on driving applies to the whole race course. Any short cut from the race path and other illicit aids are forbidden. Participation in a wheelchair is not possible because of security reasons. The technical directors of the organising committee will make the final decisions for disqualifications.

Toilets are at the food and medical stations, at start and finish area, the changing rooms and by the entertainment areas

UNICEF Extra Mile

As of 2018, MSD will support UNICEF, the Charity Partner at the SwissCityMarathon - Lucerne as the Charity Supporting Partner. In 2018, all runners who complete their 10, 21 and 42-kilometre distances will be invited to run an Extra Mile for good cause. At least 2'000 runners must run the Extra Mile to achieve CHF 20'000, the amount of donation formulated by MSD.

Swiss Museum of Transport

The Swiss Museum of Transport opens its gates! Whether for runners or spectators: The Swiss City Marathon offers all free entry! Don't miss the spectacular finish!

Nutrition

There will be enough food and water stations along the course for all runners. Due to organizational reasons it is not possible to have self-catering deposits at the nutrition stations. The concept is based on the latest scientific findings and is coordinated with our medical partner.

Turning point

The turning point is in the Haldenstrasse (between start and finish). The marathon runner and the DuoMarathon starter must circumnavigate it.

Official rules

The official rules are available on our website are part of the contract between organiser and participant. In case one registers for somebody else or an additional person, the registrating person is obliged to inform the race participants about the official rules.

Timing

Chips are used for time measurement. The race number must be visibly worn and unfolded on the front.

Closing time

Closing time is 12.15pm for Halfmarathon and 3.00 pm for Marathon and 10k. Runners who do not cross the finish line within the time limit will not be classified. Marathon runners who pass the turning point after 12.00 am have to end the race. The end of the official competition is determined by the broom wagon which is on the move in such a way that he arrives the finish line with the set time limit. Runners who are overtaken by the broom wagon, have to hand over the timing chip to the correspondent staff and are no longer part of the official competition.
