myDS account

Why do I need to create an account?

According to the GDPR, you must be able to change and manage the opt-in and privacy settings at any time. At Datasport, you can do this easily and conveniently in the myDS account. The myDS account, however, also offers many other benefits... read on here.

I can't log in. What is the best way to proceed?

If it is "only" because you forgot your password, you can get a new one sent to you by e-mail or SMS. However, if you also can’t remember your e-mail address, then use the online form to contact us. We will be happy to assist you.

I have forgotten my password. How do I create a new one?

On the login page, you can get a new password sent to you by e-mail or SMS. If you don’t see our e-mail in your inbox after a few moments, please check your spam folder.

How do I change my address details?

Log in and click on your name in the top right corner. On the new page, you can edit your address details as well as those of the people in your account under the "Profile" tab.

How do I log out?

Click on your username at the top right side. Select the column ‚Account‘ and click on the ‚Logout‘ button.

delete myDS account

The myDS account provides you with an archive of all the events you have participated in along with your achievements and allows you to save your privacy settings and master data for future registrations. If you merely want to prevent the events you have previously participated in from being on the internet for all to see, then you can turn off your public profile yourself at any time. Set the people in my myDS account to private

If, however, you would really like to delete your myDS account with us (this means you can no longer log in and we will delete and destroy the data in your account), then please fill out the web form.

How can I register friends for an event?

You can directly add friends to your account during the registration process for the desired event by clicking on the link "Enter more people here". Then select the appropriate category for the people wanting to participate. For those people not participating, leave "Select desired category" in the selection field. These people will not be registered for the event.

If you don’t have an account yet, you can open a new one for your friend and register him.

I am listed several times. How can I merge the people / data records?

It may be the case that, due to a change of residence or different spelling variations of the name, the results are not all listed in the same data set. The various data sets can be merged in a simple and easy way in the athlete search. Once we have verified it, the result can usually be seen within 24 hours.

How can I record results myself?

All the results from Datasport events are automatically recorded in the personal results overview. You can record the results from other events yourself and display them in your overview. Log in to your account and click on the “Results" tab. Here you will find the "Add results” link. Make sure that all required fields are filled out and the information is correct.

How can I delete results?

Unfortunately, results cannot be deleted. However, those without a classification can be hidden. All others remain in your results overview. The appropriate setting can be made in your profile under settings.

How can I delete my name from the ranking list?

According to the accepted regulations and the fact that it is generally acknowledged that mass sporting events, among others, draw up accessible starting/ ranking lists, we publish the lists necessary for the organisation on behalf of the organisers in due consideration of the data protection declaration. If you have any further data protection legal claims, we kindly ask you to contact the organiser (search for event then select privacy) and explain them in more detail so they can be resolved.

Before an event

How do I register for an event?

Registration is done in 5 steps:

  1. Select the desired event in the calendar.
If you can’t find it at first glance, use our various filters.
  2. Click on register.
If you don’t yet have an account, create one now.
  3. Select the desired category.
  4. Select the payment method.
  5. Complete the payment process and look for the payment confirmation in your inbox.
How can I purchase a voucher?

You can buy vouchers for various amounts in our shop and use them later as a payment method when registering online. If you pay by bank transfer, you save on the order handling.

The online registration itself offers a second option: when you register for an event, you can purchase a voucher once you have selected the desired payment method. This enables you to bypass the order handling, irrespective of the payment method. However, the purchased voucher cannot be simultaneously used as a payment method.

How can I redeem a voucher?

When you register for an event, you can use the voucher as a payment method during the payment process.

What’s more, if you pay the entire amount with the voucher, you save on the order handling.
Redeeming the voucher is flexible: remaining amounts do not expire and you can redeem several vouchers at the same time.

I have forgotten the password for the voucher. How do I get a new one?

Use the online form to send us your voucher number and we will send you the password again.

I haven't received a registration confirmation. Where can I find it?

Please check whether the amount has been debited to your bank/post account. If yes, please check where you sent the registration/payment. Perhaps directly to the organiser?

If no money has been debited, then the registration including payment has not been correctly completed. In this case, please try again.

In the second attempt, please make sure that the registration is only placed once in the shopping cart.

I have paid the entry fee twice. How do I get the money back?

Please contact the organiser directly. He is responsible for making decisions when it comes to refunds or credits for the next year. We do not have the authority to refund money because we are in a contractual relationship with the organiser.

Why should I insure the entry fee?

Unfortunately, injuries or illnesses repeatedly occur during the preparation for an athletic goal. To ensure you won’t be penalised twice if the worst comes to the worst, it is possible to insure the entry fee.

My name is wrong on the start list. What can I do?

If your details (name, age group, or category) have not been correctly published, you can use the online form to contact us directly.a

Why am I not on the start list despite my successful registration?

If you have received confirmation of your online registration, then you are by all means successfully registered for the event. Wait a couple of days before you contact the organiser because not all organisers update their start lists on the same regular basis.

I am participating in a team/relay/couple's run. Why can't I find the event in my myDS overview?

In the case of relay/team/couple races, no entry is made in the myDS account because not all the details are available for unambiguously allocating the myDS account. However, after the event you can enter your result in your account yourself.

What can I do if the team/club information in the start list is missing or incorrect?

The team/club entry is not standard when registering online. It can therefore happen that it is not possible to enter this for some events. If your team information is incorrect or missing, you can contact the respective organiser directly or use the online form to contact us.

I can't participate. Can I transfer the starting place to another person?

Contact the organiser directly. This is handled differently from event to Event.

How can I register for the SMS service?

Events with the SMS service are indicated in the calendar. Click on "SMS" and make a note of your number. The results will then be sent to your mobile phone on the day of the competition.

At which competitions can I get a Swiss Runners ticket and when will I be sent the codes?

You can find an overview of all the events under Swiss Runners. You will receive the codes for your Swiss Runners ticket by e-mail a few days before the event. Before the competition, check that the e-mail address in your myDS account has been saved correctly. If this is not the case, or if you registered through the organiser and did not provide an e-mail address, please get in contact with us.

I haven't received the codes for the Swiss Runners tickets. What can I do?

If you still haven’t received an e-mail with the codes one day before the competition, check which e-mail address you entered when registering. In the case of an online registration, it is written on the payment confirmation. Then check the respective e-mail account and the spam folder in particular. If an incorrect e-mail address has been entered or the e-mail has not been sent, please get in contact with us.

The codes for the Swiss Runners tickets don't work. What can I do?

You can only use the codes once. For this reason, we recommend that you order the tickets via a computer using a secure and stable network connection. As soon as you enter the code once on the SBB platform, you need to complete the ticket ordering process, because otherwise the code will become invalid. If this is the case, please get in contact with us.

How do I redeem the codes for the Swiss Runners tickets?

You can find instructions on redeeming the Swiss Runners tickets here.

How can I deregister myself from an Event?

Fill out the online form with a corresponding message. We will ensure that the race does not appear in your results overview. The organiser is responsible for making decisions when it comes to entry fee refunds or transferring the registration to the following year. For this purpose, contact him directly.

Tips on preparing for your competition

We have summarized the most important tips to make sure you are optimally prepared when you stand at the starting line - so your competition will be a success!

  1. Plan your competition over the long term and prepare yourself accordingly
Choose your competitions early on and then make sure your preparation meets the requirements with regards to the competition’s duration and Terrain.

  2. Test your fitness level at one preparatory competition at least
To ensure all goes well during your big main goal, we recommend at least one "trial run" in advance. You can read more here.

  3. Work out a realistic target time and pace for the competition
If you know how well you are able to perform, you can work out a realistic end time or choose your competition pace accordingly. This will thus give you the assurance that you still have sufficient energy to get ahead in the second half and enjoy the race.

  4. Increase your hours of recovery and sleep
Avoid stress and strenuous evening activities. Make sure that you will be rested when you stand at the starting line by reserving time for daily micro-breaks and by sleeping more than usual.

  5. Check the registration documents
Has everything worked out well with the registration? Have you received the confirmation? It's worth checking everything over again at least one week before the competition to avoid any nasty surprises.

  6. Cultivate positive thoughts
Races are decided in the mind. Look forward to the challenge and prepare your mind for the day of competition and difficult racing situations, if necessary. You can find tips from the best here.

  7. No experiments
The closer the competition, the greater the nervousness. Instead of following a tried and tested preparation plan, many take risks by experimenting or try to make up lost ground. While this may perhaps have positive effects mentally, you will find you pay for it during the race. When it comes to training and nutrition, stick to the tried and tested.

  8. Reduce your training during the week of the competition
It is possible to train too much in the final week before a competition and tire yourself out unnecessarily. Instead, see to it that you reduce your training by 40-60% of your normal workload and do all that you can to achieve a pre-race state of relaxation. This does not mean that you should stop running. On the contrary! But you really should avoid long and/or burdensome units during the week of the competition.

  9. Don’t leave your legs in the lurch
Reducing your training does not mean omitting it completely! It is more a case of maintaining your fitness level by undertaking short units and a final intensive unit at least four days before the competition.
I cannot participate. How do I get the entry fee back?

If you have registered online via Datasport and have taken out cancellation insurance, you can apply to the insurance company for a refund of the entry fee, for example in the event of injury or illness.

The following documents must be submitted to European Travel Insurance ERV:

  1. Confirmation of payment from Datasport, which shows that you took out cancellation insurance.
  2. A detailed medical certificate confirming the illness or injury

If the request is accepted, you will automatically receive a Datasport voucher to the amount insured. The Datasport voucher enables you or other people to register online free of charge for any event in the Datasport event calendar.

If you prefer a cash payment, please let us know by e-mail (info@datasport.com) after receiving the voucher and we will refund the voucher amount minus a small fee.

During an event

Where can I find the results of the event?

During the event, we recommend using DSLive. Each measured time - at the start, at a split time, changeover time, lap, and of course at the finishing line – is presented directly on the Internet. "Datasport Live" works on all browsers, iPads, iPhones, Android devices, and basically all common smartphones. DSLive is also incorporated in the Datasport App.

Click in the calendar on the desired event and the "DSLive” link.

After the event, you can also find the classic ranking list in the calendar under the "Ranking list” link.

My name is wrong on the ranking list. What can I do?

If your details (name, age group, or place of residence) have not been correctly published, you can use the online form to contact us directly.

Why does the result not appear in my results overview?

A new data set was created for whatever reasons. No problem. In the sports search you can merge both data sets with just a few clicks.

Is there an app?

Datasport has an app which shows all events with the most important information. You can also find the results here and can add your friends as favourites. This mean you can quickly find the split times and results of your friends during an event.

Tips for a successful competition

So your competition will be a success: 10 tips

Your preparation was long and intensive, and now you want to get the most out of your personal best on the day of the competition so you can shine at the finish. Leave nothing to chance and tackle the competition, too, with the right attitude.

It doesn’t matter whether you are a runner, triathlete or biker, our ten tips show you how to organise your competition so you shine at the finish.

10 tips for organising a successful competition?

  1. Think positive
No matter whether you couldn’t sleep due to nervousness or could barely eat breakfast. Today is an important day for you – a day in which you have invested a lot. Start the race with joy and enjoy that which you have been training so long for. After all, you want to reach the finish with a smile.

  2. Select a reasonable race pace
Particularly at the beginning, it’s tempting to keep up with the masses and overdo it. Be reasonable and choose your optimal speed so you can still step it up in the second half.

  3. Concentrate on yourself
During the competition, concentrate on yourself. Focus on your breathing, your speed, and your movement patterns. Other competitors can motivate you, but should not overly influence you and your race.

  4. Divide up the route into sections
During the competition, this means: well divided is half the battle. This not only helps you in selecting the speed, it also gives you a mental advantage: pick out the intermediate goals that you want to achieve.

  5. Distraction
Tired thigh muscles, heavy breathing, a blister on your foot or the feeling “I can’t go on” - this can all happen during a competition. You now need to distract yourself from the source of irritation or negative thoughts by thinking of something positive or by diverting your attention: instead of thinking about your aching legs, focus on your arms and their dynamic use, for example.

  6. Motivate yourself
Keep on motivating yourself during the race to get the maximum out of your performance. Visualise how you arrive at the finishing line; how proud you will be at that moment and imagine how you will reward yourself afterwards.

  7. Remain flexible and relaxed
Perhaps not everything goes according to plan during the race: extreme weather conditions, a faulty bike, or you can’t maintain your targeted time. It is important here not to waste any additional energy, but to remain flexible. If plan A doesn’t work, then plan B most definitely will.

  8. Control your movement patterns
During the race, you should deliberately and repeatedly focus on your movement patterns to make sure you don’t get a cramp: What are my legs doing? My arms? How is my body posture? Am I breathing evenly?

  9. Food and drink
In a competition with a duration of more than 60 minutes, you always need to supply your body with energy in the form of fluids as well as solids, if necessary. Please don’t experiment in the competition itself.

  10. Enjoy running to the finishing line
You did it. And here it is, THE MOMENT. You’ve geared a lot towards this over the past weeks and months and have perhaps also gone without. The finish is now tangible: Enjoy the last few metres and soak up everything around you.
What is DS live gold?

DS live gold is in principle an advancement in timekeeping, whereby the intermediate ranking lists during the race not only show the split times after the passage times in DS live, but show times at every moment of the race, based on the distance covered. This is possible because the positions of the athletes are calculated on an ongoing basis.

Furthermore, DS live gold is a source of communication for your friends and acquaintances. Thanks to GPS tracking and various interfaces, current street view information including personalised race data is automatically shared in the Facebook feed or sent via SMS and e-mail.

What is special about DS live gold?

Compared to other tracking solutions, we not only display the current position, but continuously calculate the prediction for the next measuring points. This means your friends and family always know where and when they need to be to cheer you on.

How is the position calculated?

To calculate the position, the expected speed, route profile, route characteristics, split times, elapsed time, and tracking data are used. This multitude of parameters renders extremely accurate predictions possible.

How do I get to the athlete's page?

Just a few days before the event, Datasport will send you a personal link. You can pass this on to your friends and acquaintances or share it on your social media channels. Clicking on it will take you to your personal page.

Is it mandatory to carry a mobile phone?

The tracking data obtained via the mobile phone is one of several sources used to calculate the position. If the organiser does not explicitly request it, then taking it along is optional. However, it does significantly increase the accuracy of the positioning and the predictions.

How/When can i buy DS live gold?

You can either buy DS live gold when registering online, or just before the race with a small surcharge. Datasport sends all athletes a special mail a few days before the race. Those who have already bought DS live gold will receive the most important information. Those who have not yet bought «DS live gold» can still do so now.

What are the additional benefits of DS live gold for me?

As a participant in a DS live gold event, there are two incentives for buying DS live gold:

  1. You will be doing your friends and family a huge favour: they can track your race live on your personal page. They will get predictions for all split times, can see where you are on the route thanks to the map and altitude profile, and will also see it from the athlete’s perspective with the aid of Google Street View and Google Earth Web.
  2. In the era of Facebook and Strava, it can also be in your best interests to benefit from these interfaces. Split times and current street view information including personalised race data can be automatically shared live. What’s more, after the race the GPX file including altitude difference is available for up/downloading or can be uploaded automatically.
What happens if I don't buy DS live gold or the link is not known?

Apart from the share option and the possibility to up/download, it makes no difference to you whether you run your race with or without DS live gold. Your friends, however, will miss out as there will be no personal page on which they can track your race live.

If your personal link is not known, they can find you in the «normal» DS live (www.datasport.com/live) under «Search» and track your race.

At which events is DS live gold used?

Usually at major events or those that last several hours where the safety aspects are paramount. Thanks to DS live gold, the organiser always knows how many athletes are where or which athletes have lost their way.

After the event

I couldn't participate.
